Sawyer's 3rd Birthday: Camping/Antique Fishing Party

I am so excited to share Sawyer's Camping Party with all of you! It was a huge success and everything came together so lovely! The best part of all was how much fun the kids had painting rocks and camping out :o)

I got the inspiration for the color scheme from this listing on etsy. I fell in love with the color scheme right away! I really didn't want to pay for all of the ink that would need to be used to print out everything that that custom kit involves so I went on a hunt to find similar scrapbook paper and made my own decor!

I found the paper at Big Lots of all places! And we used fishing line with a needle to string the balloons instead of pouring money into buying a mini helium tank!

I found the net that's draped over the table at The Dollar Tree for a buck :o)

"Camp Sawyer" Signs: We found two pieces of wood in the garage and spray painted them hunter green. I bought the spray paint from big lots for $3 and one can was enough! The paint we used for the letters was a sample can of paint we had sitting in the basement from when we painted our dining room and tested out color choices haha!
Total project = $3

My friend did a lot of custom crochet work for us for this party. She made this adorable fishy garland using a rust color, gold, orange and white. I got the idea from another etsy listing :o)

Rock Painting :o)
- Plastic Dishes were purchased at Lowes in the garden section for .09 ea
- Acrylic Paint $0.59 ea at Walmart
- Paint Brushes .97 at Walmart
- Rocks, Free!

When the kids were finished painting their rocks we put them inside these boxes and placed them outside to dry. They were all ready for the kids to take home with them as they walked to their cars :o)

"Catch of the Day" AKA Watermelon
I used this cookie cutter from amazon.com

(Sorry for the blurry picture) I just loved this project! So simple and oh-so-cute! I made blue cool-aid (20 cents!) but cut out more than half of the sugar it called for haha! I also made "night crawler" ice cubes with left over gummy worms and added them to the mix!

Night Crawler Ice Cubes

Fruit Cups :o)

Birthday Boy and his Nana!

We were going to use a cooler of course for the soda and water but with it being a toddler party we knew the ice would end up all over the house so we threw it in the sink!

Samuel & his Nana <3

Bobbers and Twine go a LONG way! :o)

 S'more Pops!

Fun Straws, Jumbo Marsh-Mellows, Melted Chocolate Chips & Crushed Graham Cracker

We ordered this cake topper set from Amazon and then had the cake done at a local cake shop. The tent even lights up!

 Very excited Birthday Boy!

"Is that good?"

My friend Aydin enjoying a good lick from the cake topper :o) Oh-so-yummy!

THE "CAMPSITE"
We turned our family room into a campsite for the kids to "free play." Do as they wish so- to- speak :o) Use their imaginations, imagine
 and pretend play.
We put out flash lights for each child to use along with some camp wood to build "fires". What toddler doesn't like to build a fire? hah! We also had yellow, red and organge tissue paper to put on top of the wood to represent the fire itself.  I had a mini Christmas tree with lights on it in the basement that we usually use on our front porch in the winter time! It was PERFECT and looked just like an evergreen behind the tent all lit up! One of my husband and my favorite part of the pretend camp ground was this DVD that featured a real camp fire being video taped! We turned the volume all the way up so we could enjoy the peaceful sounds of crickets, crackles and pure nature~ I cringed when I bought the dvd thinking it was soooo frivolous but it was the best purchase, ever!
